Tips on Using the Leveler: Basic Searches Searching To search for a book, simply type in either the name of the author, the book, or the series it is a part of. Then, click search. For example, to find the book Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook, you could type "Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook" into the Title field, you could type Barbara Park (the book's author) into the Author field, or you could type "Junie B. Jones" into the series field.
Once you've typed in the author's name, simply click search. This search will return all the books Barbara Park has written. Typing "Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook" will return only that book. Results Once you've clicked search, a results page will appear. That page has a table looking something like this.
The fist line tells you what you searched for (in bold) and the number of results found. If no results are found, the table you see will be blank. Title lists the book titles, generally in alphabetical order. Author lists the book's author (here, we see only Barbara Park. Barbara K. Park or Barbara Parkton could also appear in a search for Barbara Park). The Series column tells you what series a book is a part of (this is often blank - not all books are part of a series). Level lists the book's level on the Fountas-Pinel Scale. Title lists the book titles, generally in alphabetical order. Author lists the book's author (here, we see only Barbara Park. Barbara K. Level lists the book's level on the Fountas-Pinnell Scale. If your search doesn't return the results you hoped for, or you're ready to look up a new book, start a new search either by clicking your browser's back button, or clicking the "New Search" button in the right menu.
